Al Hidayah Centre provides a service to assist Muslim couples who are South African citizens with registering their civil marriage with the Department of Home Affairs. Kindly note that this is done on behalf of Home Affairs and is subject to Home Affairs current updated rules and regulations.
DHA Marriage Registration Documents needed:
Pre-Appointment Documents:
1. Couple must go into Home Affairs and get a printout of verification of marital status.
2. Couple must go into Home Affairs and get a printout of verification of online ID.
3. Couple must have an affidavit stating that they are not currently married.
Note:
The Ante Nuptial Contract must be registered prior to the solemnisation.
Appointment Day Documents:
1. Certified ID copies of
• Husband
• Wife
• Witness 1
• Witness 2
2. Proof of address not older that 3 months. (Certified copy)
3. 3 x Passport size photos (Colour) for husband and wife.
4. Administration fee will be charged.
5. An abridged or unabridged copy of the Marriage Certificate post registration can be arranged from Home Affairs at a fee determined by Home Affairs.
6. Witnesses have to be South African citizens older than 18 years of age.
7. Both witnesses must be present with the couple, to sign register.
8. Current, active, contact numbers for each individual are required.
Note:
1. Fingerprints will be taken, and Marriage Certificate issued immediately.
2. Submission of registration is made within 3 working days of appointment with marriage party.
3. Capturing of registration details on the Population Register is subject to Home Affairs processes.
