Abu Musa al Ashari radhiallahu anhu narrates that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said:
“The most eminent of people as a [recipient of reward [is one] who lives farthest away, and who has to walk the farthest distance, and he who waits for the prayer to observe it along with the imam, his reward is greater than the one who prays [alone] and then goes to sleep.” In the narration of Abu Kurayb [the words are]: “[He waits] till he prays along with the imam in congregation.”

Abu Hurairah radhiallahu anhu narrates that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said:
“The congregational prayer of anyone amongst you [is more than twenty [twenty-five or twenty-seven] times in reward than his prayer in the market or in his house, for if he performs ablution completely and then goes to the masjid with the sole intention of performing the prayer, and nothing urges him to proceed to the masjid except the prayer, then, on every step which he takes towards the masjid, he will be raised one degree higher and one of his sins will be forgiven. The angels will keep on asking for Allah’s forgiveness and blessings for every one of you so long as he keeps sitting at his praying place. The angels will say, ‘O Allah, bless him! O Allah, be merciful to him! ‘As long as he does not cause harm to another or break his wudhu.” The Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam further said, “One is regarded in prayer so long as one is waiting for the prayer.”

Hadith 16. Don’t abandon the Sunnah
Arabic Audio:
English Audio:
Abdullah ibn Masud radhiallahu anhu narrates that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said:
“Whoever would like to meet Allah tomorrow [i.e., on the Day of Judgement] as a Muslim let him preserve the five [daily] prayers when the call for them is given, for they are part of the ways of guidance, and Allah prescribed the ways of guidance to your Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. By Allah, if each of you prays in his house, you will have abandoned the Sunnah of your Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam and if you abandon the Sunnah of your Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam you will go astray. There is no man who purifies himself and does it well, and comes to the masjid and prays there, but for every step that he takes, Allah raises him in status one degree thereby, and takes away one of his sins. I remember when no one stayed behind [away] from the prayer except a hypocrite who was known for his hypocrisy. I have a man coming supported by two others, until he joined the row [of worshippers].”

Abu Hurairah radhiallahu anhu narrates that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said:
“The most burdensome prayers for the hypocrites are the Esha prayer and the Fajr prayer. If only they knew what [reward] there is in them, they would come to them even if they had to crawl. I was thinking of commanding that the call to prayer he given. Then I would tell a man to lead the people in prayer. Then I would go out with some other men carrying bundles of wood and go to people who do not attend the [congregational] prayer and burn their houses down around them.”

He sallallahu alaihi wa sallam granted him permission. (Bukhari and Muslim)

Abu Hurayrah radhiallahu anhu narrates that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said:
“Indeed, I found myself in the hijr (of the Kabah) and the Quraish were asking me about my night journey (Isra). I was asked about things pertaining to Bayt al Maqdis (Masjid Al Aqsa) which I could not preserve [in my mind] I was very much vexed; so vexed as I had never been before. Then Allah raised it (Bayt al Maqdis) before my eyes. I looked towards it, and I gave them the information about whatever they questioned me on, I also saw myself among a number of Prophets. [Amongst them performing salah was Musa alaihis salaam and I found him to be a well-built man, as if he was a man of the tribe of Shanu’ah. I also saw Isa alaihis salaam, son of Maryam, performing salah. Of all of the men he had the closest resemblance with Urwa ibn Mas’ud al-Thaqafi. I also saw Ibrahim alaihis salaam performing salah. He had the closest resemblance with your companion [the Messenger sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, himself]. When the time for prayer came, I led them.”
